Losing Your Job Is A Blessing From Heaven Sometimes
64Jobless? Tough Luck!!!
It was time to go
I got fired today. After two years of loyal employment at Ruby Tuesday, I was let go over a mix up regarding someone working my shift. I thought they were going to cover my shift, but they never showed up. It appeared I just blew off the shift, because we didn't inform a manager of the switch. I could have fought for my job, but I didn't really want it. As the minutes went by, I felt better and better about the situation.
At first, there was some anxiety. Where was my next paycheck coming from? Christmas is 3 weeks away, etc... Now I am flooded with ideas on how to use this new found, accidental free time. Will I sell things on Ebay? Get a metal detector and comb the beautiful beaches of Florida? Rob a bank? I'm kidding about that of course.
I can lawfully collect unemployment insurance.Although my former employer will dispute it, per their reputation. So I could be broke for a long time. But the bright side outshines that small problem; as I will never have to get some 90 year old woman extra napkins, that she will never use. I will never have to enter another BOGO coupon in the computer. Never will I wipe ketchup off my uncomfortable work shoes. I won't have to watch as one of my co-worker's bursts into tears over a bad tip.
So thank you ex-boss for making my life better. I didn't think you cared that much. I'm going to get him a Thank You card right now.
So if you hate your job, but know that you will never quit; say a prayer that you'll get fired. I would often say, "Please kill me" at work. I'm glad nothing that extreme happened. Getting fired for me is actually the opposite of death. It's a rebirth. Onto the next chapter!
I could always try to make a living on Hub pages right? Nah.

Yeah, right before the holidays is a hard time to lose your job. Been there, done that, and it all turned out okay, but it took a little time. I hope all goes well for you, good luck. Write some more articles on hubpages, you are good at it.
Always look on the bright side of life :) Good luck!
I am glad to see you have such a good attitude! I too was unexpectedly "downsized". I too hated my job and did not trust my bosses. When I was let go, it was like a huge relief. I was under a lot of pressure in sales and was just worn out. Everything happens for a reason and maybe this is just what we both needed. Good luck to you!
